Hemp Industries Association

The Hemp Industries Association (HIA) is a non-profit trade association representing more than one-thousand (1,000) supporters, farmers and business members serving the hemp industries since 1994.  The HIA stands for the fair and equal treatment of industrial hemp and its opportunities in agriculture and in the marketplace. The Association is dedicated to education, industry development, and the accelerated expansion of hemp world market supply and demand but is focused on the rebirth of the hemp industries in the United States. 

University of Puerto Rico

The University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus (UPRM) or Recinto Universitario de Mayagüez (RUM) in Spanish, is a land-grant, sea-grant, space-grant state university located in the city of MayagüezPuerto Rico. UPRM is the second-largest university campus of the University of Puerto Rico system. UPRM has been accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) since 1946. 

UPRM continues its development in the best tradition of a land-grant institution. It is a co-educational, bilingual, and non-sectarian school comprising the Colleges of Agricultural Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering and the Division of Continuing Education and Professional Studies. The College of Agricultural Sciences includes the Agricultural Experiment Station and the Agricultural Extension Service.

The Puerto Rico Department of Agriculture’s mission is to establish the agricultural policy to ensure a greater food security for Puerto Rico. Its mission is to develop an advanced agricultural industry in areas such as technology and entrepreneurship that is responsible with the environment and economically sustainable.

The Puerto Rico Department of Agriculture’s International Marketing Division works hand-in-hand with businesses to provide training on entering international markets, create personalized export development plans, organize trade missions, and assist in the attendance of international trade shows. Their goal is to enable agricultural producers, agritourism, and agribusiness industries the opportunity to successfully assess and access new and diverse market opportunities to promote growth in terms of production and revenues.
